The Ghost of a Chair is a furniture piece that explores the idea of immateriality made visible. Inspired by the notion of an apparition—something sensed rather than fully present—the chair captures the fleeting image of a draped Louis XV armchair, as if its spirit had been momentarily frozen in time.
A translucent sheet appears to fall gently over the elegant curves and cabriole legs of the classical chair beneath. The surface gathers into soft pleats that descend to the floor, creating a sense of suspended movement—both delicate and sculptural.
Simultaneously present and elusive, the chair plays with the paradox of ghostly imagery: what we perceive as immaterial becomes strikingly tangible. The familiar form of the historic armchair appears mysteriously clothed, transformed into a contemporary sculptural object.
Each Ghost Chair is handmade from a single 4 mm transparent polyester sheet, shaped through an unconventional process that combines advanced technology with meticulous craftsmanship. Because of the fluid and unpredictable nature of the process, every chair develops its own unique character.
Produced as a limited edition of 99 pieces per style, each chair is made to order and can be customized in a variety of colors.
Light, translucent and visually ethereal, The Ghost of a Chair adapts effortlessly to a wide range of environments. Its transparency allows it to coexist harmoniously with its surroundings, while the material itself subtly captures and conducts light—expanding its presence beyond the purely functional into the realm of sculptural design.
